In storage mode, the charger reduces the float voltage to 2.2V/cell (13.2V for a 12V battery) when the battery has not been discharged for 24 hours. This minimizes gassing and corrosion of the positive plates, preventing early battery failure. Once a week, the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to equalize the battery and prevent stratification of the electrolyte and sulfation.
