• Bluetooth Connectivity: With Bluetooth built-in, the BMV Smart can be easily connected to other Victron Energy products. • Easy Installation: All electrical connections are made to the quick connect PCB on the current shunt. The shunt connects to the monitor using a standard RJ12 telephone cable. The package includes a 10m RJ12 cable, a battery cable with fuse (2m), a separate front bezel for a square or round display appearance, a securing ring for rear mounting, and screws for front mounting. No additional components are needed.
• Midpoint Voltage Monitoring: This feature is crucial for battery banks connected in series. By measuring the midpoint voltage, the BMV-712 can generate a timely warning in case of a bad cell or battery, preventing potential damage to the entire battery bank. For optimal service life of series-connected lead-acid batteries, we recommend using the Victron Battery Balancer (BMS012201000).
• Very Low Current Draw: The BMV-712 has an incredibly low current consumption from the battery, ensuring minimal impact on battery capacity. At 12V, the current draw is only 0.7Ah per month (1mA), and at 24V, it is 0.6Ah per month (0.8mA). This is particularly important for Li-ion batteries, as discharging them until low voltage shutdown can significantly damage their capacity reserve. A residual current of 10mA, for example, may damage a 200Ah battery if left discharged for more than 8 days.
• Bi-stable Alarm Relay: To prevent increased current draw during an alarm, the BMV-712 is equipped with a bi-stable alarm relay.
• Other Features: Battery voltage, current, power, ampere-hours consumed, and state of charge can all be monitored. The monitor also provides information on the remaining time at the current rate of discharge. It has a programmable visual and audible alarm, as well as a programmable relay for turning off non-critical loads or running a generator when needed. The package includes a 500 Amp quick connect shunt and connection kit, and the shunt selection capability supports up to 10,000 Amps. The BMV-712 features a VE.Direct communication port and stores a wide range of historical events for evaluating usage patterns and battery health. It has a wide input voltage range of 6.5 to 70V and offers high current measurement resolution of 10mA (0.01A).
