Designed primarily for use with bent butt tackle, this rod holder features a unique swivel base that allows the rod butt to rotate when side pressure is applied to the tip of the rod. This is particularly useful in Giant Blue Fin Tuna fishing, where reel drags of up to 60 pounds are commonly used, exerting tremendous forces on the rod holder pin. With this swivel base rod holder, sheared rod holder pins are a thing of the past, and the tip of the rod can follow the fish, reducing the risk of line fraying and enhancing drag.

Not only does this rod holder provide exceptional functionality, but it is also made of medium 30 stainless steel, ensuring durability and resistance to corrosion. The swivel base holder can also be used with straight butt rods, allowing for manual rotation so that the line remains on the tip's roller. The amount of torque required to rotate the swivel can be adjusted by manipulating the pressure on two nylon drag washers using a half-inch stainless steel lock nut located at the bottom of the rod holder.
